FireFox Addon: TagSifter for firefox 3.5

If you found this then you probably use the TagSifter addon for the Firefox web browser.  Well I do and when I upgraded to Firefox 3.5 I found that I did not want to live with out it.

I wanted it badly enough to learn something new.

I had never done any firefox addon development but I know a fair bit of java script from my work as a web site developer so I thought I would take a try.
Well I got it working with out much of any trouble.  All I had to do was tell firefox that it would run on 3.5 and restart the program and it "just worked".
so here are the steps.

  1. Locate your user firefox user profile directory/extensions*/{3b71bd20-ee7e-11d9-8cd6-0800200c9a66}/
  2. Open the file 'install.rdf'
  3. On line 8 change '3.0.*' to 3.5.*'
  4. Save file.
  5. Restart firefox.

If it was working before it should work now.  Note that onlty use the Bookmarks->sagsifter functions so the popup and sidebar have not bee tested.

Use at you own risk.

* = to locate your user profile you can look here.

I modified the install.rdf file as above but Tgasifter is still not working for me. I cannot choose any bookmarked site from the dropdown tags when I click the tagsifter on my bookmark toolbar. It just shows me "EMPTY"
